Sailing in Style was created by Thomas Karantis as a true passion project. Here is the story of how it came to be…
Nearly 30 years ago, Thomas took a summer job in the hospitality industry where he first fell in love with Greek cuisine and what started as temporary employment soon blossomed into a professional career.
His work took him all around the country, from simple, classic eateries to Michelin-star restaurants. This variety and freedom allowed him to delve into Greek cuisine, learning as he went and discovering new restaurants and recipes along the way.
His career could have gone in a different direction but we’ll never know, as he soon found another passion – sailing.
In order for Sailing in Style to become a fully organised concept, Thomas recognised that he needed to further his already considerable understanding of what dining experiences and leisure pursuits were on offer. He first turned to local knowledge, finding hidden gems, sometimes off the beaten track, that offered the quality experience that is often missed by tourists and that he wished to share far and wide.
As he accumulated this information, he began to charter trips around Greece and share its beauty. Thomas was able to then incorporate his extensive knowledge to provide a truly immersive experience. Wishing to ensure that he provided exactly what his clientele were looking for, he listened to feedback, making adjustments here and there whilst still unearthing new attractions.
Bit by bit, Sailing in Style became the provider of the luxury excursions that they are today, with time for relaxing, a bit of excitement and, of course, the best Greek cuisine that you will ever taste!
Though these trips are now as close to perfect as anything can be, Thomas still keeps an eye out for new experiences for you to enjoy!
